Oil treated
The surface of the wood keeps its naturally tough structure. All the natural advantages, its snug warmth are thus enhanced. The oil penetrates right down into the wood, providing thorough protection. At the same time the wood can still breath, no static electricity. Since there's no cover layer, scratches can be removed simply by light sanding. Only the sanded area need be reoiled.
Advantages
There are natural
as well as synthetic oils, as well as combinations of both. The
oil is applied to the wood as a liquid. The drying of the oil
can be stimulated by the addition of catalizers.
The consistency of the oil depends on the temperature. The resistance
of this kind of finish to wear is limited, however, and it is
sensitive to solvents, acids and bases. Just as for wax, though,
oil finishes are easy to rennovate.
